Accessibility Statement
Everyone should be able to read this site.

Upstate Web Works, a d/b/a of Bagelcat LLC (South Carolina), is committed to making both this site and every website we build meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.
Our commitment
Accessibility is a design constraint, not an afterthought. Every site we ship — including this one — targets WCAG 2.2 AA at the point of handoff:
- Semantic HTML5 markup with landmark regions.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Keyboard operability across every interactive element.
- Visible focus indicators.
- 4.5:1 minimum color contrast on body text; 3:1 on large text.
- Reduced-motion respected via
prefers-reduced-motion. - Skip-to-content links on every page.
- Forms with labels and inline error messages.
Current conformance status
This site (upstatewebworks.com): substantially conforms with WCAG 2.2 AA as of the effective date above. “Substantially” means we scan every build with automated tooling (axe-core, pa11y) and hand-audit each release, but no site is 100% perfect — if you find something we missed, please tell us.
Sites we build for clients: we ship each site tested against WCAG 2.2 AA. After handoff, ongoing conformance depends on the content the site owner adds. We recommend our clients continue to (a) add alt-text on new images, (b) keep heading order semantic, and (c) test any new plugin they install for accessibility.
Known limitations
We’re transparent about what’s not perfect:
- A small number of decorative custom fonts on this marketing site have a longer swap window in low-bandwidth mobile browsers than we’d like. System-font fallback is always available and readable.
- The custom-cursor effect on desktop pointers is decorative; it is disabled entirely for users with
prefers-reduced-motionand for touch/keyboard input. - Embeds from third-party services (Toast, OpenTable, ChowNow, Google Maps) inherit the accessibility level of those services, which we do not control.
How to report an accessibility issue
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site or on a site we built, email hello@upstatewebworks.com with:
- The URL of the page where the issue occurred.
- What you were trying to do.
- The assistive technology (screen reader, magnifier, keyboard-only, etc.) you were using.
We acknowledge accessibility reports within 3 business days and aim to resolve them within 14 days depending on complexity. This service is free.
